Participation is part of the philosophy
Participate
There is more than one way to be part of the experience.
The True and Live Series™ is built around participation—artists sharing knowledge, audiences entering the creative process, educators connecting generations, and collaborators helping document and extend Detroit's cultural story.
Whether you come to experience the next gathering, contribute creatively, help document the work, or explore a cultural or educational partnership, there is a place to begin.
01 — Experience it
Attend the next True and Live gathering.

Bring something to the room.
The True and Live Series™ welcomes conversations with musicians, DJs, producers, live electronic performers, percussionists, sound designers, archivists, historians, visual artists, educators and other cultural contributors whose work may contribute meaningfully to a future experience.
Participation may include performance, demonstration, conversation, archival material, technology, instrumentation, education or creative collaboration.
Introduce your work →03 — Help build the archive
Preserve what happens in the room.
Every True and Live experience should live beyond the night itself.
Photography, video, audio recording, interviews, editing and archival documentation help preserve the people, ideas, performances and moments that become part of the evolving True and Live story.
We welcome conversations with photographers, videographers, filmmakers, editors, audio professionals, students and others interested in cultural documentation.
Contribute to the archive →04 — Partner + support
Build something with us.
The True and Live Series™ welcomes relationships with colleges and universities, schools, museums, libraries, cultural organizations, community institutions, arts organizations, music programs, technology organizations and aligned businesses.
Partnerships can take many forms—from student and faculty participation to instruments, technology, space, documentation, educational programming, workshops and future True and Live presentations.
The goal is to build meaningful relationships around experiential learning, artistic expression, cultural preservation, historical inquiry, innovation and community engagement.
